The Scariest Movie Character Ever

When one thinks of the scariest characters in movies, certain names come to mind. Freddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees, and Carrot Top to name a few. But recently I watched a movie that had a character that scares the absolute shit out of me. What makes him scarier than almost every character ever, is he exists in real life. That’s right. I was watching a biopic.

And no, it wasn’t a biopic of this guy

I finally got around to watching last year’s hit Straight Outta Compton. It was a fantastic movie that I highly recommend but fair warning, it may give you nightmares. I know what you’re thinking, “Q what the fuck could be in this movie about an influential rap group that’s got you so scared? Are you sure you watched the right movie?” Of course I watched the right movie, you penis. What I wasn’t expecting was this guy:

That would be Mr. Suge Knight (in the movie played by R.Marcos Taylor). Normally when a character makes me feel uncomfortable, that just means the actor really crushed it. And this actor did a great job, but the things that Suge Knight did in the movie seemed so exaggerated I felt I had to research his life. And I was wrong, it was’t exaggerated. In fact, it may have been toned down.

If you haven’t seen Straight Outta Compton yet (spoilers) Suge can be seen doing such things as beating the shit out of Eazy-E to get him to release Dr.Dre from his contract, beating the shit out of some poor schmuck who mistakenly took his parking spot, and making an employee of his record company drink pee out of a fucking champagne flute. Pretty fucked up right? That is the character in the movie though. Let’s take a look at the real Suge Knight.

Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight Jr. was an aspiring football player. When that did not workout, he became the bodyguard for Bobby Brown. A man with bigger dreams, he started the “don’t worry this name isn’t suggestive or anything” Death Row Records. And this is where things get scary.

One of the most famous rumors is that Suge Knight dangled Vanilla Ice over a hotel balcony to get the rights to the frequently-stuck-in-your-head hit “Ice Ice Baby”. According to Mr. Ice himself, it appears these rumors are false. But he also states that it was clear this was a “shakedown”. This is how Suge started Death Row records, and he would keep and expand upon this umm…. “Business mentality”

Another famous rumor is that he injected Eazy-E (of N.W.A and Ruthless Records). Now this rumor seems extremely far-fetched. In Straight Outta Compton, he is shown just beating the bag out of him in order to get him to release Dr. Dre from his contract with Ruthless Records. THAT seems more plausible, and probably what actually happened. But take a look at this interview with Suge Knight on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Right around the 1:50 mark, Suge makes a joke about Jimmy wearing a bullet proof vest (who wouldn’t around Suge?) and suggested that there are other ways to take someone out. He specifically references shooting someone up with AIDS, and even makes a joke about Eazy-E. It’s quite unsettling. I mean at the worst he just admitted to killing a man via AIDS. At the very least, he joked about a man having AIDS. He is also rumored to have been involved in both the murders of Biggie AND Tupac though those were drive by shootings and not AIDS.

But if there is one thing Suge loves more than murder, it’s beating the absolute fuck out of women. In one particular instance he was hopped up on ecstasy and hydrocodone after leaving a strip club, and “was beating his girlfriend of three years, Melissa Isaac, and brandishing a knife”. This was happening while police arrived. He was cleared of all charges in this instance. Because of stuff like this, Dr. “I also beat women” Dre left Death Row records citing Suge’s violent outbursts as one of the reasons.

Now you might be thinking “But Q, a lot of these things were back in the 90’s when gangster rap was at its height. Surely he has matured and changed his ways…” You would think that, except he is currently in jail for running over a man with his car last year. This was when he left the set of Straight Outta Compton. Think about that for a second: he was on the set of a movie, where he is portrayed as a psychotic wild card who beats up people at a moments notice, and he was ok with that. Or, he wasn’t ok with it and decided to just take out a dude via vehicle.

So remember kids… Lock your doors at night. Because Suge Knight is out there…

I’ll be back
